One thing about me? I’m an equal-opportunity traveler. I’ll visit any destination as long as it’s accessible. Ecuador was one of those countries that gets a bad rep but is also one of the most underrated places I’ve ever visited. When I think of Ecuador, I think of an adventure wonderland. In just 48 hours, I had more adventures than I’d ever experienced in my life.
My best friend was turning 30, and we wanted the perfect place to celebrate—a mix of adventure and a restful getaway. It was also our first time traveling together, and we had a group of four girls, the largest group trip I’d ever been on. TLDR? It was perfect, Ecuador delivered through and through!

Detailed Daily Itinerary
Day 1: Touchdown in Quito and Journey to Baños
We flew Copa Airlines from Toronto to Quito, with a layover in Panama. Upon landing, a prebooked taxi whisked us off to Baños, our first stop and the farthest destination. The three-hour drive to Baños was scenic, but by the time we checked into our Airbnb, we were completely knackered.
Cost Breakdown:
Flight: $600
Taxi: $200
Airbnb: $400 (for the group)
Pro Tip: Start with the farthest destination and work your way back for a smoother trip.
Day 2: Canyoning, Rafting, and Exploring Baños

Today was packed with water activities! We booked everything through Geo Tours, which picked us up from our Airbnb. The day started with white-water rafting on Class III rapids—a thrilling experience! This was my second time rafting (my first was in Costa Rica), and it was just as fun. The girls had never done it before, so watching them scream with joy was priceless.
Next up: rappelling and canyoning. It started off a bit nerve-wracking, but the adrenaline rush from dropping off a waterfall made it all worth it! By the end of the day, we were exhausted but exhilarated.
Cost:
White-Water Rafting: $30 per person
Rappelling: $30 per person
Pro Tip: Pack clothes you’re okay with getting wet and a waterproof bag for essentials.
Day 3: Chasing Waterfalls, Bungee Jumping, and Back to Quito

We thought Day 2 couldn’t be topped, but Day 3 had a few surprises in store. We started with a visit to Pailon del Diablo, followed by bungee jumping with Ivagor Tours—an impromptu addition to our itinerary! It was a heart-pounding thrill and only $40, including GoPro footage. We wrapped up the day with a canopy zipline and a visit to Casa del Árbol, where we swung at the “end of the world.”
Cost:
Bungee Jumping: $40
Later that evening, we took a taxi back to Quito.
Day 4: Exploring Quito's Historical Charms
Quito, the second-highest capital city in the world, offers a mix of history and culture. We joined a guided tour that took us to Ciudad Mitad del Mundo (Middle of the World City) and the breathtaking Basilica del Voto Nacional. The basilica’s 24 chapels represent Ecuador’s provinces, and the neo-Gothic architecture is stunning.

We flew from Quito to the Galápagos Islands, a trip that requires advance planning. The flight took us to Baltra Island, where we paid $20 for a transit card and $100 for the national park fee (cash only). From there, a shuttle and ferry took us to Santa Cruz, where we stayed at Blu Galápagos Hotel, a beautiful spot overlooking the water.
Cost Breakdown:
Flight: $400
Taxi and Ferry: $100
Hotel: $1400 for 2 nights
Pro Tip: Book your flight and accommodation months in advance, as availability is limited.

Day 6: Snorkeling with Sea Lions

This was the highlight of our Galápagos experience. We joined a snorkeling tour and swam alongside playful sea lions, colorful fish, and even marine iguanas. Later, we relaxed at Tortuga Bay, enjoying its pristine sands and crystal-clear waters. The day ended with a seafood dinner in Puerto Ayora as the sun set beautifully over the horizon.
Cost: Snorkeling tour prices vary, typically around $150 per person.
Day 7: Farewell to Paradise and Return to Quito

We spent the morning soaking in the island’s beauty before heading back to Quito. It was hard to say goodbye to such an extraordinary place.
Day 8: Departure and Reflections
Flying back to Toronto, I couldn’t help but feel immense gratitude for this incredible adventure. From the adrenaline-filled activities in Baños to the serene beauty of the Galápagos, Ecuador exceeded every expectation. This trip was the perfect blend of adventure and relaxation—a memory to cherish forever.
